WaveRiders Updates & Reminders
Good afternoon, WaveRiders!
We hope everyone enjoyed themselves at the banquet on Wednesday. Congratulations to all of our swimmers, coaches, and parents on another great summer swim season! Thank you to our social committee for putting together an amazing event to celebrate our team!
Ribbons and Banquet Medals/Awards
- If your swimmer has any regular season ribbons, medals, and/or trophies from the banquet and is not going to Champs, you should have received an email on Thursday with pick-up instructions.
- Available for porch pick-up at 3624 Pencader Rd between 9AM-9PM
- Please pick up all items by Friday, 7/25
- Not available for pick-up on 7/21 and 7/22 as they will be taken to Champs.
- If your swimmer is going to Champs and has any ribbons, medals, and/or trophies from the banquet, we will do our best to distribute them at Champs.
Important information regarding the CAL Champs Meet is in the remainder of this email, so if you are attending Champs on Monday or Tuesday, please read it carefully. While we will try to keep our events page updated with any changes and/or updates, THE BEST PLACE FOR THE MOST UPDATED INFORMATION IS THE CAL CHAMPS WEBSITE BECAUSE UPDATES ARE POSTED HERE FIRST: https://swimcal.swimtopia.com/championship-meet.
CHAMPS VOLUNTEERS
- If you are volunteering, please be on the lookout for a separate email from our Volunteer Coordinator.
CHAMPS INFORMATION & TIPS
- Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before scheduled warm-up times for Champs as the parking lot can get very crowded!
- Session 1 Swimmers (8&Under): There are 530 registered swimmers, and parking and seating are going to fill up FAST. We recommend arriving as close to 7AM as possible.
- CAL kindly requests that families carpool if at all possible.
- Swimmers should be on deck at least 15 minutes before warm-ups start.
- The facility does get crowded and can be a little overwhelming for the younger swimmers. Our coaches will do a great job getting them acquainted with the pool during warm-ups, so please be on time.
- Swimmers will be dropped off at the competition pool area. This is located on the first floor down the hallway to the right when you enter the facility. Locker rooms are at the entrance to the pool deck. This is also where you will pick up your swimmers after the meet.
- IMPORTANT: Relays are at the beginning AND end of each session, so please double - TRIPLE - check for any relay assignments for your swimmer
- Relay assignments can be found here.
- Parents, please check in your swimmer(s) with one of our volunteers either on the pool deck at our assigned bleacher area OR at the locker room entrance.
- Due to the large number of swimmers this year, we’re not sure how much leniency there will be with allowing parents to drop off on the pool deck like in past years, so please be patient with our deck parents as we work through this together.
- There will be a sign-in sheet - please leave your name and best number to reach you.
- Please help by reminding your swimmer to find a deck parent to escort them out to you after their last event.
- Tip: Use the Entries by Athlete file in conjunction with the heat sheet to help with this.
WHAT TO BRING
- Water (please label with your swimmer’s name); sports drink; goggles; at least two towels; snacks; idle/downtime activities if needed - NO ELECTRONICS, PLEASE
- Champs caps will be distributed along with snack bags to swimmers at each session.
